Mission Presbyterian Church

Mission PC approached me to have their current logo redesigned. The main goal of the new logo, like the previous, was to stay in touch with the historical aspect of the region in which the church is located. Mission PC seats in a town where the old “Camino Real” ran through. “El Camino Real” or The Royal Road in English, also known as The King’s Highway was a a road that united past churches, called missions, while California was still under exploration. These churches, or missions, shared similar architectural features.

This solution tries to unify the history of the region with the artistic culture in California through the use of color and patterns. The typography on this piece highlights the traditional feel while the bold lines and colorful sky in the icon add a modern touch. This was done, to represent one of the goals of the church to reach both young and not so young.
